What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It’s ideal for those with dental anxiety, sensitive gag reflexes, or difficulty remaining still. Our sedation options range from mild relaxation to deeper sedation levels for enhanced comfort.

General Anesthesia

Fully asleep, performed by a licensed anesthesiologist. Ideal for complex medical cases.

IV Sedation

Conscious sedation via intravenous meds. You’ll be deeply relaxed but responsive.

Oral Sedation

Simple oral medication taken before your appointment. Calm and anxiety-free experience.

Nitrous Inhalational Gas

Inhaled gas that eases anxiety during routine procedures. Wears off quickly.

Types of Sedation

At NorCal Dental Group, we offer a full range of implant solutions tailored to your specific needs and smile goals.

This mild sedative is inhaled via a mask to induce a relaxed state. It works quickly and wears off fast ideal for mild to moderate anxiety. You can drive yourself home afterward.

Taken as a pill in-office, this medication takes effect within about 45 minutes. You remain conscious but deeply relaxed throughout the treatment.
Administered intravenously by a trained anesthesiologist, IV sedation induces a twilight sleep. It works rapidly and can be adjusted throughout the procedure, maintaining deep relaxation while still allowing response to commands.
